GoCongo Enterprises has committed to reserving 50% of its vast lands - approx. 750,000 hectares, and counting - for environmental conservation activities, primarily reforestation.
As a farming corporation, GoCongo Enterprises is committed to sustainability and social responsibility not only in words, but in real action stipulated in the company’s statutes.
A key goal is to create 292,000 hectares of forests, solely as an environmental project, by 2032, which by then would be capturing approximately 230,000 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) from the atmosphere each year.
GoCongo Foundation is partnering with GoCongo Enterprises to achieve this vision in a number of ways, including:
Informing environmental conservation activities with research on best practices, sustainability, and actions needed to ensure the most effective use of available land
Working with local communities on the land to involve them in environmental projects, build their capacity, and create new employment opportunities from the conservation activities
Fundraising to enable the operationalisation of this high-impact environmental project
GoCongo Enterprises will also use most of the remaining 50% of their land for sustainable projects with environmental benefits, including planting fruit trees, bamboo, and row crops. However, since that portion of the project has commercial purposes in addition to its environmental purposes, GoCongo Foundation is not actively connected with it.
